Happiness, your experiences and your memory
I’ve been averaging about one or 2 TED videos a week this past month and they are simply fascinating. While I often find myself unwilling to devote 10 or 20 minutes to an online video (mostly because I keep trying to multitask while watching the video and failing), the TED talks are really worth it.
This one recently came through my Twitter stream and it’s dynamite: Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman (one of the pioneers behind behavioral economics) talks about human happiness, his research into how we, as humans, experience and evaluate our happiness and what role our memories play in all of this. Watching this and thinking about how I choose to remember my life and various experiences proved to be very enlightening, giving me a new way to think about my own perception. Absolutely worth the 20 minutes.
