What if this ad unit was digital and could tell when a customer was nearby? Here i am, proud owner of a 6682 looking at this ad. What if it could highlight the fact that i have some expertise on the product? Or maybe educate me on a feature (moblogging anyone?) or an upgrade? Maybe hard to execute, but done well wouldn’t that be powerful?

Reminds me of the Minority Report which I just watched last night. When I was watching the movie I was thinking about how annoying it be if everywhere I went I was targeted with ads. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d like a bit more privacy, and peace and quiet.

Annoying is certainly possible, that’s true Mark. But, two things: 1) Lots of advertising and even more generally, information, is annoying already. We still have to deal with it and filter. 2) What I was getting at was how to create some advertising that might be welcome. My thought was that if you could do it well, it’d be charming and appreciating. Not annoying or unwanted. That, to me, is pretty cool.
